Philosophy of the Taylor Made Equine Portfolio Management System

Duncan Taylor originated the unique concept of the Taylor Made Equine Portfolio Management System as a hands-on tool for the client. After looking at a stock portfolio, he believed the same concept could be applied to a person’s horse program. The binder has been developed to act like a stock portfolio, your horses are the investment and we would like to help you manage your portfolio in a profitable manner.

The Portfolio

The portfolio is really an interactive tool for both Taylor Made and for our clients. It contains a good deal of information and organizes it in a simple format that reads easily. Clients use the portfolio to make decisions about their horse investments that have economic consequences. From deciding which stallion fits your mare physically and pedigree wise, which sale your foal or yearling should go through, to breeding your mare to sell or to get a foal out of her. The portfolio helps with these decisions by keeping a history of how much your mare has sold for in different stages of her life. It gives a physical description of each of her foals that shows the trend as to the type of foal your mare is producing and can help determine what type of stallion she needs to be bred to in the future. We will also appraise and rank your mares at least once a year to determine the quality of your investments. To keep all of this straight, we will help you set goals for your horse program whether it be to race or sell. Our goal is to help you attain and eventually exceed your goals.
